The Town of Newton is located in the Northwest Skylands region of the State of New Jersey in rural Sussex County. The Town of Newton is located approximately 60 miles Northwest of New York City and 70 miles North of Trenton, New Jersey.

Incorporated in 1864, the Town of Newton is the County Seat for Sussex County and enjoys a rich historic heritage dating back to 1751.

2008 Final and 2009 Preliminary Tax Bills were mailed on Wednesday, July 23, 2008.
The 3rd quarter 2008 (8/1/2008) must be received by August 19, 2008. After which, it will be deemed delinquent with interest accruing from August 1, 2008.
