Our next regular Town Council meeting (in person and via Zoom – Hybrid Regular Meeting) is Monday, September 25, 2023, beginning at 5:30pm. The Taste of Newton will follow at 6:00pm in Central Plaza.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The Clerk’s office has prepared for consideration and approval the minutes from September 13, 2023 - Regular Meeting.
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
This is for those that wish to address the Town Council but do not plan to stay for the whole meeting. There is a note to the public on the agenda to please keep their comments to a maximum of 3 minutes and limited to one turn at the microphone. This allows ample time for all who wish to speak and keeps the meeting moving forward. The public can speak on any matter. Council may choose to comment after the entire public portion has concluded. Comments from the public will be both in-person and via Zoom.
COUNCIL & MANAGER REPORTS
There is one (1) ordinance for Introduction:
Ordinance 2023-25 is an ordinance to amend Section 307-48.A of the Code of the Town of Newton to prohibit parking on certain portions of Moran Street. This is to allow for safe selfies at our new Mural.
If none of you have any items that you wish to pull from the Consent Agenda, the Mayor shall call for one roll call vote for all the Consent Agenda items.
Resolution #221-2023* authorizes the Tax Collector to hold an electronic tax sale for the year 2023.
Resolution #222-2023* authorizes a credit due a water and sewer utility account.
Resolution #223-2023* rejects bid submittals for Proposed Hockey Rink Rehabilitation Project.
Resolution #224-2023* approves Bills and Vouchers for payment.

My thanks to everyone involved in the Town Mural Project – Jessica, Kimberly, Kat, DPW, PD, and scores of individuals who took time to paint. The mural is a beautiful pictorial representation of the many wonderful locations in the Town. Please enjoy for many years to come and take lots of pictures.
The Taste of Newton will be held this Monday at 6:00pm in Central Plaza, hence the time change for our Council meeting. Hopefully the weather will perform better than the Giants offense.

We are working on extending our agreement for Tax Collection Services with Montague Township for another three-years.
Since it is almost October, it is that time of year for the budget memorandum to go out. Stay tuned and sharpen your pencils.
Speaking of winter, (wut?), the annual Town Holiday Staff Party will be held at the new Culinary Institute of SCCC at the McGuire’s Technical Center. 12:30pm-3:30pm, mark your calendars!
