June 7, 2011 - 6:30pm UPDATE - Newton NJ
Water buffalo is scheduled for relocation to Central Plaza across
from Town Hall. Cones have already been set up to block off the area.
Water buffalo stations at Firehouse #1 and Lower Spring Street are
available until 8:00pm at which time the Central Plaza station will be
operational, though I am hopeful that this will not be needed but for a
few hours only.
Most sections of Town have received water. W/S personnel still checking
hydrants to ensure flow is evident and pressure consistent.
Several restaurants have already begun to open with hopefully most or
all of them operational by the morning. Please patronize these local
businesses and restaurants if you are able to do so.
Updates will be forthcoming as conditions warrant. Thank you for your
patience, and thank you to all Newton staff and to the employees of
Andover Township and the County of Sussex for their hard work during
this crisis as well.
Thomas S. Russo, Jr., Town Manager
