A reminder that the annual Senior Holiday Luncheon is this Sunday at Newton High School at Noon.  Hope to see you there!

Our next Council meeting is Monday, December 10th at 7:00pm.  We will have the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony here at Town Hall at 6:00pm.

THE WEEK IN REVIEW

The Morris Lake Reservoir was 23 inches below the top of the spillway on 11.26.12.

Performance evaluations are being conducted throughout the organization as is the requirement this time of year.

I held my annual budget hearings this past Wednesday and I appreciate Dawn, Ginny, and Debi’s efforts along with that of my department heads and participating staff members.

Several important memos have been distributed by Terri under my signature this week: Holiday Party (Dec. 21st at 4pm); Gifts Policy; Grab Bag (Charity of Choice).  Please review same and contact me if you have any questions.

Our incoming Town Attorney, Ursula Leo, Esq., held a meeting this week with members of our engineering team – town, water, sewer.  I was pleased by the level of interest and the interaction with same.  Ursula will next be coordinating a meeting with the various special counsels.

Thank you to the Town Council for their support of the 2012 lump sum performance awards and the 2013 raises for non-union staff.  And thank you to all team members for a strong performance in 2012.

The installation of the new flag poles on Spring Street, generously donated by the Newton Rotary, has commenced.  Our thanks to Cory Stoner and the wonderful individuals of Rotary.  We are grateful for their commitment to Newton.

Congratulations to Deb Danielson, who will become our Assistant OEM Coordinator in 2013.  I look forward to the dynamic team of Teets-Finkle-Danielson coordinating our efforts.

My thanks and appreciation to the members of the Newton Police Department, Newton Fire Department and Newton First Aid Squad for their many hours of work on recent fires and disasters in town.  Whether or not residents and business owners appreciate you, I can say unequivocally that this is the finest group of emergency services personnel I have worked with in my 15 years of local and county government service.  God Bless.

Go Giants!  (No mention of Rutgers please, thank you.)
