The Town of Newton has learned that one (1) of the eight (8) locations tested for water sampling failed.  Therefore, the boil water notice is still in effect for the Town.

The one location is being re-tested as we speak and sent to the Lab for analysis.  Stay tuned to the Manager's Blog, Emergency Alerts, NJ Herald, and Town website for more information.

We will be issuing a press release shortly and conducting another Reverse 9-1-1 call.  Also, the potable (drinkable) water truck located across from the Municipal Building in Central Parking Lot #4 will still be accessible for residents.

There is currently no change to the Health Department rules that were promulgated yesterday by the Sussex County Health Department.  Any Newton or Andover food establishments affected by the watermain break must still operate under those guidelines at this time.

Updates as conditions warrant.  Thank you again for your patience.
