The Employee Appreciation pool event has been cancelled. Employees and volunteers can pick up a free pool day pass and food voucher for Sunday, August 25th at the Community Development office. Thank you all for your service to the Town of Newton.

THE WEEK IN REVIEW
Morris Lake was 6 ½ inches below the top of the spillway on 8.12.13.
M. Sky Construction will begin the replacement of certain sidewalks on Spring Street and Main Street beginning the week of August 26th. For safety reasons, Spring Street will be reduced to one lane periodically during the project.
We are obtaining feedback from legal and insurance on the proposed modifications to the Employee Handbook.
Equipment installation is being finished up for the new Ford Interceptor police cruisers.
Truck 2 has been sent out for refurbishing as per the recently awarded contract.
Water meter readings are completed. Leak detection has been done this week.
There will be a slight reduction in pool hours for the remainder of the season due to the number of lifeguards that are going back to school.
August 13th special election went smoothly – thank you Lorraine, Terri and Team.
The new point-of-sale software is being purchase for the Clerk’s office.
The town-wide garage sale was successful once again.
Several team members were trained in the proper use of the AED that is now in the lobby of Town Hall.
Tax Sale is scheduled for October 9th at 10:00am.
The fall sports are going into full gear as we speak.
The letter from Scott detailing the parameters of the hybrid assessment will go out next week and posted on our website.
Based on the watershed management program we created for Morris Lake, Scott has applied for a farmland assessment on our Morris Lake property in Sparta.
The Water Department will be out on August 20th making the wet tap on Diller Avenue to begin the Howard Street watermain project. Diller Avenue will be closed during same.
