My thanks to all emergency service responders who assisted with the Trinity Street fire on Wednesday.

Our next Town Council meeting is Monday, September 23rd at 7:00pm.  There will be a volunteer interview at 6:45pm.

Morris Lake was 11 inches below the top of the spillway on 9.9.13.

Taste of Newton was a great event on Monday evening!  Well-attended and well-coordinated.  My thanks to PD and DPW for their assistance on same.

Draft copies of the revised handbook have been provided to all Council members for review.  We will discuss same at the September 23rd Council meeting.

We had a meeting with the firm that was hired by the State Police to coordinate future emergency grant applications.  The gentleman who came was very informative and responsive and we look forward to utilizing the new online system for subsequent requests.

We had a meeting with the County regarding our drainage study as requested by the Council.  Next step is for HPA and Debi to meet with residents in that area to discuss various options for consideration.

Our quarterly safety meeting went very well as our team received accolades from Statewide on our performance in the areas of employee safety and training.

Work is continuing on the Spring St. and Main St. sidewalks and should be done next week.

The Howard Street watermain has been completed.  The main passed the pressure test and a bacteria sample was taken this morning.  Once the sample is back, the four connections to the main will be completed.

We are all set for the CGI video shoot on Tuesday, September 17th.  I want to thank Terri and Tracy for coordinating our various locations and actors/actresses.

On Monday, I will be attending a meeting with Mike Pappas and the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority in Newark.  NJTPA is the federally authorized Metropolitan Planning Organization for the 13-county northern NJ region.  Each year, NJTPA oversees $2 billion in transportation improvement projects.  I want to thank HPA and Debi for providing me with our project wish list and maps for their review and consideration.

Stay safe and have a great weekend!
