Neighbors Helping Neighbors IV will occur tomorrow at 8:30am here at Town Hall. The volunteer effort runs from 9:00am – Noon and pizza will be served at Memory Park following same. Non-union full-time employees who participate will receive compensatory time – non-union part-time staff will be paid for their efforts. Let Terri know.
I will be attending the annual Emergency Preparedness Conference in Atlantic City with Deb Danielson this week. Terri or Debi can reach me via cell phone if necessary.
The May 12th Council meeting has been cancelled. Our next Town Council meeting will be Monday, May 28th at 7:00pm.
THE WEEK IN REVIEW
Morris Lake was 2 inches above the top of the spillway on 4.28.14.
We met with NJDOT and County representatives, as well as those from neighboring communities, to discuss the 2016 paving of Route 206 throughout Newton. I will keep you posted as conditions warrant.

DPW Regionalization proposals were received and are being reviewed by our subcommittee (Manger, Deputy Manager, Mayor, Deputy Mayor, HR Coordinator).
Gina Thomas and I met this week to go over items from the monthly merchants meeting as well as to discuss fundraising efforts for Newton Day and the 150th Anniversary celebrations.
The pool contractor began work this week on the pool filter project. As of yesterday, the demolition is completed on the old filters.
The State has requested additional environmental remediation cost information on the Armory project. Same was provided to them today by Newton 213, LLC.
Summer hours will commence Tuesday, May 27th and run through Friday, August 29th. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, 8:30am-4:30pm; Thursday 8:30am-6:30pm; Friday 8:30am-1:30pm.
