A reminder that Newton Day is tomorrow!  Opening ceremonies on Spring Street commence at 11:00am and the event runs until 4:30pm.  The party then continues down at Memory Park with the fireworks display occurring at dusk.  See you there!

Our next Town Council meeting is Monday, June 27th at 7:00pm

The Morris Lake Reservoir was 1 inch below the top of the spillway on 6.13.11.

Our team met this week to go over the information needed to submit a proper tort claims notice against Andover Township for the costs incurred due to the recent watermain  break.

The analysis of Finance Department operations continues under the leadership of Deb Carter and our consultant, Heather Peckerman.  I want to thank everyone in Finance for their support of same and for all stakeholders who are being interviewed as part of the process.

I met with the chairwoman of the Miss Newton event to go over the aspects that worked well at the recent contest and the items that need improvement for next year.

The shared services agreement for fire subcode services with Hardyston Township will be on our agenda for the June 27th meeting.  I am still in the process of hiring someone part-time to handle the remaining SD/CCO responsibilities.

A reminder that our municipal reorganization will be on Friday, July 1st.  Helen Le Frois will become mayor and Sandra Diglio will become deputy mayor.

A formal resolution in support of the analysis and rationale for the county bus stop move from Spring Street to Trinity Street will be on the June 27th consent agenda.

We met with Harold Pellow today to discuss the many road and infrastructure improvement projects that we will be coordinating this fall.

Cory Stoner and Kenny Jaekel will bring our plans for fido houses, flag poles, bike racks, and benches to the Historic Commission on Monday evening.

Also on Monday, AT&T Wireless will be on Spring Street filming a commercial!  Everyone get out your cell phones and get ready to be famous…just don’t tell them if you use Verizon or Sprint Nextel…enjoy your weekend!
