Our next Town Council meeting is Monday, July 25th at 7:00pm

The Morris Lake Reservoir was ½ inch above the top of the spillway on 7.11.11.

The electrical company implementing the energy audit has been on site this week making some of the upgrades to the lighting in the municipal building.  They will be on site for the next 2 weeks conducting the electrical upgrades in other buildings.

The Merriam Avenue watermain project is progressing well.  As of today the men have installed over 900 feet of pipe along Merriam Avenue to Pine Street.  This new portion of the watermain will be filled and tested on Wednesday.

I met onsite this week with Cory Stoner and representatives from First Energy to discuss the new utility poles for the Thorlabs project.  All is proceeding as planned.

I also met with HPA and Adam Vough this week to determine the exact location for the new handicapped parking spot on Spring Street (across from the Theatre).

On Monday evening, Cory, Debi and Kenny will attend the Historic Commission meeting to present our application on the new wayfinding signage.

At our next Council meeting we will discuss the Solar PPA project status.  The engineering analysis has shown that the DPW complex (roof system) and Wastewater Treatment Plant (ground system) would be two excellent candidates for inclusion.  Our goal is to discuss same that evening and pass a resolution authorizing our participation in this important money-saving endeavor.

The State has provided us with Best Practices 2.0 – a streamlined version of the checklist we had to fill out last year.  Dawn and I will begin working on same next week.

Check out the great patio and patio furniture at the Town Hall complex!  My thanks to Kenny and all DPW members who made this happen for our employees.

I also want to also thank Brock, Coach Trudgeon, and all lifeguards and staff members who have made the pool run so smoothly this summer.  It seems as though many families and children are enjoying themselves and that is great to see!

Don’t forget – Newton Theatre tickets go on sale next Friday (July 22nd) at 10am!  Todd Rundgren is the opening act on Friday, Sept. 9th at 8pm.  Hope to see you there!

Enjoy your weekend!
