Municipal offices will be closed on Monday, October 9th for Columbus Day. Our next Town Council meeting is Wednesday, October 11th at 7:00pm.

The Taste of Newton was a resounding success this year – congratulations to the GNCC and all who assisted.
I attended the formal kickoff for the Seton Hall Market Research project in South Orange. I enjoyed meeting with our two teams of students, discussing current issues in Newton so we can properly craft our in-person and online surveys. They will be visiting Newton on Tuesday with our working group in attendance.
Mott MacDonald has made some recommendations in regards to sewer issues in the area of 41 Douma Drive – same will be provided to the residents in the area and DPW Supervisor Jaekel will commence work on said recommendations.
Ursula and I will draft a food truck ordinance based on the conversations held at the Wednesday night Council meeting.
Routine business discussed this month at the Statewide Insurance Fund meeting in Parsippany.
The monthly grid update for DPW/Engineering/WS projects has been distributed.
I attended the CIANJ breakfast on economic revitalization and redevelopment held in Woodbridge, NJ. It was exciting to listen to the Woodbridge mayor and staff speak about PILOTs and a variety of interesting projects they have underway. No matter the size of the community, we are all looking for quality commercial ratables.
We participated in a natural gas auction today and received excellent pricing for the next 24 months. We should save about 9% a year on same.
The official Grand Opening for Sol Azteka will be Saturday, September 23rd at 11am. We wish them the best of success!
