The Easter Egg Hunt that was originally scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed (due to weather) until next Saturday, April 7th at Memory Park at 10:30am.  The annual Fire Department dinner is tomorrow evening at 6:00pm at Perona Farms.  Bon Appétit!

Our next Town Council meeting is Monday, April 9th at 7:00pm.

The Morris Lake Reservoir was 3 inches below the top of the spillway on 3.26.12.

The Senior Spring Dinner and Seussical event went very well this past weekend.  My thanks to Kerry Deckert and Suzie Givone and all those who volunteered their time to make the event memorable.

I met with Senator Oroho and his staff this week on various issues of interest to Newton and surrounding municipalities.  I will keep you posted as conditions warrant.  Please note that Sen. Oroho was very complimentary about our staff and professionals and all the good things that are occurring in Newton.

Several council members and staff members attended the annual Sussex County Chamber of Commerce Quality in Business Awards dinner with me last evening.  Though we were not successful in winning the award for which we were nominated (Customer Service), I am grateful for all of the hard work our staff performs daily to ensure all customers are treated with fairness, courtesy, and respect.  Thank you!

Bid(s) were received this week on our new recycling truck.  We hope to award same at our next Council meeting.

My thanks to the W/S crew for installing the new water conservation devices in the restrooms at Town Hall.  These were recommendations that came about due to our energy audit.  Happy flushing!

Newton continued to get positive press coverage, both via The Alternative Press’ website,, and via recent articles in the NJ Herald.

Work continued on the electronics and fire system for the new elevator.  Almost done!

Neighbors Helping Neighbors 2012 will be held on Saturday, April 28th from 8:30am – Noon.  Pizza will follow at Memory Park.  I hope all staff members and their families can participate in this community clean-up event.  Not only do we perform basic clean-up activities, but we go one step further by assisting seniors, disabled residents, and veterans with basic yard work.

Enjoy your weekend!  Let’s Go Rangers!
