It is not too late to sign up to volunteer for Neighbors Helping Neighbors II.  The event will be held tomorrow, Saturday, April 28th from 8:30am-Noon.  We will meet here at Town Hall for breakfast and assignments from 8:30am-9:00am.  Work will be conducted from 9am-Noon at various locations throughout the community.  We will then reconvene at Memory Park for pizza.  Several area houses of worship and nonprofit groups have signed up to participate.  Please contact Terri if you can assist us in this worthy endeavor.  See you then!

A reminder that the Newton Fire Department Steak Bust is tomorrow at 4:00pm at Station 2.

Our next Town Council meeting is Monday, May 14th at 7:00pm.  There is an interview at 6:45pm for a candidate for the Recreation Commission.

The Morris Lake Reservoir was 6 inches below the top of the spillway on 4.23.12.

We had no bidders this week for the property on Orchard Street.  We will attempt another auction of same in the fall.

This past Wednesday was Administrative Professionals Day – a special thank you to all administrative support staff in recognition of their hard work!

Work has been completed on the Town Hall elevator and it is now operational – rides are free.

The DPW crew has commenced work on the retaining wall project here at Town Hall…please be careful walking and driving around same.

A meeting was held in Sparta Township regarding the watermain construction at Sparta Town Center.  The new 10” and 16” watermains have been placed in the new easement location. The connection to the gate valve and air relief valves will be made the beginning of next week and then there will be pressure and bacteria testing.  Arrangements have been made with Sparta Township to connect to their water system on May 9th for a 24-hour period while the connections are made to the new 10” and 16” watermains.

Enjoy your weekend!  Let’s Go Rangers!  4 down and 12 more to go…
