THE WEEK IN REVIEW
The Morris Lake Reservoir was 15 inches below the top of the spillway on 7.23.12.
Tax bills are out and the checks and phone calls are coming in. Our best wishes to the Tax and Finance staff who are working diligently on same. I want to welcome Kimberly Williams as our newest employee in the Finance Department. Welcome aboard!
Congratulations to Jeff Schiffner who will be taking over as Parking Enforcement Officer due to the resignation of Anthony Elvidge. We wish Jeff well in his new endeavors.
Tracy Villaverde will be the new HR Coordinator for the Town of Newton starting on Monday, July 30th. We welcome her to our team and look forward to her important contributions.
Plans for the Town-wide Garage Sale on August 3rd, 4th, and 5th are moving along. It has been advertised in the NJ Herald each Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for the past three weeks and posted on our website. We have about 30 participants so far. Maps will be prepared by the Clerk’s office and will be available to the public and posted on our website.
The Maple Avenue Watermain Project is progressing slowly but surely. 200’ of pipe has been installed so far. The reason for the low amount is due to all the rock they have been hitting. We will contact Mr. Slate to see if Fred and Barney are available to be onsite to assist.
The hose bib in front of Town Hall was repaired on Tuesday.
Work on the TH retaining wall is moving along. SZ Construction was on site this week to pour the sidewalk along the side of the wall.
Thank you to everyone for the birthday well wishes! Much appreciated!
Enjoy your weekend!
