The Newton School District is inviting all employees to the unveiling of their new turf field at Newton High School on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 9:45am.  There will be multiple games played on the field tomorrow so check them out!

Our next Council meeting is Monday, September 24th @ 7:00pm.

 THE WEEK IN REVIEW

The Morris Lake Reservoir was 27 inches below the top of the spillway on 9.10.12.  The Drought Warning has been issued and the Police Department can issue tickets if individuals are found to be violating same.

Our gratitude to Chief Richards and the entire 9/11 committee for the 9/11 Ceremony that was held last Sunday at SCCC.  Let us never forget.

The Newton Police Department was recognized by NJCASA (New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault) for its commitment to community and victims.  Several PD members attended with the Chief of Police.  Congratulations to everyone for their efforts!

Congratulations to the GNCC on another successful Taste of Newton event!  Over 400 people enjoyed the culinary delights from multiple restaurants in and around Newton.  It was an excellent showcase event for the Town.

We have our dates for the visioning sessions as part of the Vision Plan Update:

Thursday, October 25th at 7pm – Town Hall; Saturday, October 27th at 9am – Town Hall

Monday, November 26th at 6pm – Town Hall (as part of Council meeting)

The Economic Development Commission has agreed with my recommendation that the Town advertise on The Alternative Press website for Oct.-Dec. of this year.  This will be the first of several new marketing initiatives that I plan on undertaking over the next couple of years.

RFPs were received this week for various appointed legal positions as well as Town Auditor.  The subcommittee will meet over the next few weeks and make recommendations to the full Council for consideration.

I am working with the Board of Education on some recommendations for a fiber optics shared services project.  If the numbers work, I will be placing same in the 2013 capital budget for consideration…stay tuned…

Happy Rosh Hashanah!

Enjoy your weekend!
