Mr. Flynn was first elected in 2012.
Mr. Flynn, before being elected served on the Newton Planning Board.
After graduating college, Mr. Flynn went to work as a Civil Engineer for DMJM Harris, where he worked with a team of engineers on several highway transportation projects in New Jersey. In 2008, he went to work as a Project Manager for Stormwater Compliance Solutions, LLC, an engineering firm that specializes in stormwater management and many other types of water resource related projects. Mr. Flynn also works for Ferriero Engineering, Inc., as a design engineer and assists in various municipal engineering projects. The two companies work out of the same office. Mr. Flynn became a licensed engineer in 2014 and partner in the firm of Stormwater Compliance Solutions, LLC where he continues to build the company's portfolio as a firm specializing in stormwater management both in New Jersey and around the region.
Volunteer Service and Organizations
During college, Mr. Flynn was a member of the Engineers Without Borders, where he worked on several sustainability infrastructure projects in Central America. He was also an officer in the Syracuse University Wrestling Club, member of the Forest Engineering Club and avid participant in the Syracuse University Outing Club. Prior to moving to Newton, Mr. Flynn was a member of the Byram Township Architectural Review Committee.
Interests and Hobbies
Mr. Flynn enjoys all types of outdoor activities including hiking, cycling, bicycling, boating, and running. He shares a passion for hunting, fishing, and the rural character of our region.
In 2007, Mr. Flynn graduated from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, a satellite school to Syracuse University, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. Prior to that he attended Lenape Valley Regional High School in Stanhope, NJ where he was a member of the varsity wrestling team and graduated in 2003.
Mr. Flynn has traveled to several Central and South American Countries during college and after. He believes that traveling and immersing yourself in different cultures really allows for a greater appreciation of others and your own culture and community. Mr. Flynn is an active member in both Town and County functions; he is a member of the Sussex County Planning Board and Sussex County PAC (Policy Advisory Committee) where he represents the Town of Newton. Mr. Flynn feels that it is a great honor to serve as an active member in Town government and encourages active participation on all levels of local government and youth athletic and academic groups.
