THE WEEK IN REVIEW
The Morris Lake Reservoir was 26 inches below the top of the spillway on 8/30/10.
A pre-construction meeting was held regarding the South Park Drive Practice Field project on Tuesday and the contractor indicated he would begin work on September 9th. The project will take approximately one month to complete. Utilization of this field will commence next Fall.
A pre-construction meeting was held regarding the paving projects in Town on Thursday. The contractor indicated that drainage work and curbing will begin on Academy Street on September 21st. Milling and paving will begin on October 5th and go through October 12th. We look forward to the successful completion of same.
Orkin Pest Control will be fumigating the Senior Bus on Friday afternoon for bed bugs. There is no issue at this time; however, it was decided to do this as a precautionary measure.
Work is commencing on the Fall Town Newsletter. We look to mail out this latest edition at some point mid-to-late October.
Mayor Becker and I met this week with representatives from the nurses’ union at Newton Memorial Hospital as they wanted us to be aware of the status of contract negotiations.
The Parking Authority authorized a project with HPA to map out all of the locations of our various parking meters and machines. There is currently no accurate digital accounting of same and in order for us to enhance the productivity and success of our Parking Enforcement activities we will need to have better data available. This is one of many steps I will be looking to implement to make our Parking Authority and parking operations more financially sound.
Today we met with Tom Kosten of FKA to discuss preliminary concepts for the refreshment stand at the Memory Park Pool. Tom will provide me with a proposal for Council consideration. It is my goal to obtain Council authorization in order for Tom to commence design work so that this project may realistically come to fruition for the next pool season…
Enjoy the weekend! Go Yankees!
