THE WEEK IN REVIEW
Morris Lake was 19 inches below the top of the spillway on 2.24.14.
The USDA application for the Fox Hollow Watermain Project has been filed. The USDA should reach out to us within the next couple of weeks to advise what type of grant funding we can receive as well as any loans.
The SCEDP is almost ready to meet with member communities to discussion the Vision 20/20 project. Newton should be one of the first towns to have said meeting.
Due to the excessive storm costs this winter, I will be placing an additional $17,000 in the 2014 budget for snow removal, with the revenue offset coming predominantly from fund balance.
Councilwoman Diglio, Lorraine, and I attended the annual FFA luncheon at NHS. It was very well attended and the students and advisors were most impressive. Kudos to them all!
Dr. Greene and I attended the First Lady’s visit to Liberty Towers on Thursday. It was great to be a part of positive media coverage for our community and Mary Pat could not have been more gracious.
I attended the JCP&L regional dispatch operations meeting on Friday with representatives from other municipalities. It was very informative and I appreciate Jackie Espinoza and her proactive and positive approach.
Enjoy your weekend!
Yours for a Better Newton,
