Morris Lake was 2 inches below the top of the spillway on 7.14.14.
Our next SID/Downtown tour has been scheduled for later this month. Next stop: Westfield!
Routine business was discussed at the monthly NJMEBF meeting.
Work continues on the conversion of one of the Ground Floor bathrooms at Town Hall into storage space.
I was interviewed by the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce this week for an upcoming article in their magazine on the Newton 150th Anniversary celebration.
We had a productive meeting with Senator Oroho this week to discuss the lack of progress by the State of NJ on the Armory project. Sen. Oroho will assist us as we try to move things forward.
According to Dawn it looks as if we will save $245,551 on the AA- rated (S&P) refunding bonds. Fantastic savings for the taxpayers - great work everyone!
TRC was very busy this week with three applications.
Planning Board scheduled a special meeting on August 7th for the new Moose Lodge/State Labor Office Building application.
The Fire Museum work commenced this week. However, a better dust control measure needs to be implemented by the contractor. Cory has advised him that work must cease until a better system is implemented.
DPW staff is working with several vendors on the quotes for electrical/electronic upgrades to the soon-to-be renovated Council chambers. I will keep you posted as conditions warrant.
The DPW regionalization study is progressing on schedule.
