Our next regular Town Council meeting (in person and via Zoom – Hybrid Regular Meeting) is Monday, July 17, 2023, beginning at 7:00pm. 

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

The Clerk’s office has prepared for consideration and approval the minutes from June 26, 2023 - Regular Meeting.

 

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

This is for those that wish to address the Town Council but do not plan to stay for the whole meeting. There is a note to the public on the agenda to please keep their comments to a maximum of 3 minutes and limited to one turn at the microphone. This allows ample time for all who wish to speak and keeps the meeting moving forward. The public can speak on any matter. Council may choose to comment after the entire public portion has concluded. Comments from the public will be both in-person and via Zoom.

 

COUNCIL & MANAGER REPORTS

 

ORDINANCE(S)

There is one (1) ordinance for Second Reading/Public Hearing:

 

Ordinance 2023-19 is a bond ordinance amending Bond Ordinance 2022-18 adopted on August 15, 2022.

 

There is one (1) ordinance for Introduction:

 

Ordinance 2023-20 is an ordinance adopting a Redevelopment Plan for Block 10.01, Lots 5 & 6, commonly known as 125 Water Street and 5 South Park Drive, respectively.

 

CONSENT AGENDA

If none of you have any items that you wish to pull from the Consent Agenda, the Mayor shall call for one roll call vote for all the Consent Agenda items. 

 

Resolution #192-2023* authorizes a refund of an overpayment of a water and sewer utility account for 2 Oak Street.

 

Resolution #193-2023* authorizes the award of a Required Disclosure Contract for SKAE Power Solutions LLC.

 

Resolution #194-2023* inserts a Special Item of Revenue in the 2023 Town of Newton Budget Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:4-87 (C. 159, PL 1948).

 

Resolution #195-2023* authorizes the award of a Required Disclosure Contract for Process Tech Sales & Service. 

 

Resolution #196-2023* authorizes a credit due a water and sewer utility account.

 

Resolution #197-2023* authorizes a refund of redemption monies to outside lien holder for Block 5.05, Lot 5, also known as 34 Clinton Street.

 

Resolution #198-2023* authorizes the award of CC#3-2023, Town of Newton Expenditure Efficiency Consultant.

 

Resolution #199-2023* awards the contract for the Proposed Improvements to Clinton Street, West Nelson Street, & Division Street Project.

 

Resolution #200-2023* renews a Plenary Retail Consumption License for 1915-33-009-006.

 

Resolution #201-2023* approves Bills and Vouchers for payment.

Morris Lake is one (1) inch above the top of the spillway.

 

Another exciting edition of Tom Talk this week as we interviewed the operator of the very successful Board & Brush Creative Studio! Tune in on July 27th when Kimberly Williams moves from behind the camera to center stage!

 

The kiddie pool has been tiled and plastered! We are looking to open the same around July 26th.

 

We had another successful planning meeting to discuss the Firehouse No. 1 multi-year renovation.

 

Next week we have TRC and Planning Board meetings on Wednesday.
