Mrs. Diglio was first elected in 2010. She was reelected in May 2018 to serve her third four-year term.
Town Service
Served as Town Council Liaison to the Historic Preservation Advisory Commission. While Mayor and Deputy Mayor she served on the Planning Board. She has also been part of Neighbors Helping Neighbors and a member of the Fire Museum Committee.
Professional Service
Mrs. Diglio was employed by SCARC as a Family Support Assistant and Specialist for eight years. She is presently pursuing her artistic talents in painting, sculpture, and photography.
Volunteer Service and Organizations
At the present time, Mrs. Diglio serves on the Board of Directors and is secretary for the Greater Newton Chamber of Commerce. As a member of the GNCC she has served on numerous committees such as the Newton Day Committee and the Taste of Newton Committee, and is Chairperson for the Annual Holiday Parade and Memorial Day Parade Committees. Since 2003, Mrs. Diglio has served her community as an Emergency Medical Responder for the Newton First Aid Squad, currently she serves as an officer and Treasurer. She has been involved with the Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council. In the past, Mrs. Diglio was one of the original founders of the Main Street Newton Program and served on the Board of Directors as Secretary. In addition, she is a past member and former President of the Sussex County Technical School Board of Education. Mrs. Diglio helped organize the Newton Taxpayer's Association and served as its secretary and later its President. Mrs. Diglio also served as Past President and Member of the Parent Teacher Organization at Merriam Avenue School and the Halsted Parents Association. She was a member of the Newton Athletic League and was an assistant baseball coach and later a coach.
Educational Background
Mrs. Diglio attended Sussex County Community College and graduated Summa Cum Laude with both an Associate of Arts and an Associate of Science Degree. She was awarded a Presidential Scholarship to William Paterson University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts and Photography. She is also a graduate of the Leadership Institute and has taken classes in Finance and Budgeting.
Family Profile
Mrs. Diglio has resided in Newton since 1978 where she and her husband, the late Philip J. Diglio, Councilman, Deputy Mayor and Mayor, raised their children Philip, Stephen, Paul. Her sons are professionals and are married. She has four grandsons and a granddaughter.
Other
Mrs. Diglio is grateful to the public for giving her the opportunity to serve them, and encourages the public to attend Town Council Meetings and become involved in their Town. She strongly believes an elected official should represent the public and act in accordance to the direction given to them by the public.
